Ok, Under the Blacklight is now posted! Reviews are mixed, at best -it took a pretty good beating in Pitchfork and Stereogum but I think expecations tend to spiral out of control (see: Wilco) and people just need to relax. It may not be the BEST Rilo Kiley album ever, but it's a good listen. And for me to endorse a non-depressing album is a rare occurrence!

You call this new Rilo Kiley album a baby? It is more like a red-headed step child. She should have saved all of her decent songs, like "15", for the next Jenny Lewis album.
Okay, but if they would have rehashed "The Execution of All Things" or "More Adventurous" everyone would be complaining about that, too, right? It is a departure from the "RK sound" as we knew it, but is there anything wrong with that? I don't understand why fans get to bent out of shape when a band doesn't produce sequels to their previous albums. Thoughts?
FWIW, I also think silver lining sounds more "Jenny Lewis than RK", too. But since she IS part of RK, I kinda think that's okay, too ...
congratulations! this is post number 100! you win! you win! you win nothing!

I saw Jenny Lewis in an old movie on Lifetime the other day in "Danielle Steele's 'Daddy'." Excellent performance.
