MGMT on Dave tonight

One band to keep an eye on in '08 is Brooklyn's MGMT. If you have yet to experience their rad psych-pop, we've got two chances for you to give 'em a listen. For starters, the fellas are performing on tonight's Late Show with David Letterman, so set those Tivos. They will be cranking out a live rendition of their infectious single "Time To Pretend," which comes from their Columbia Records debut Oracular Spectacular.

Speaking of that single, you can download it for free this week from iTunes. Yes, MGMT has been given the honor of having the "single of the week" on iTunes, which means you can download "Time To Pretend" for nada! Zilch! FREE! Get your download on >

MGMT's tour with YEASAYER kicks off on the 16th in Washington DC. Peep the dates >

Worth sitting through Dr Phil...

...and I don't think much would be, but I would have endured it to be in the audience for this show! Dr Phil, Stupid Pet Tricks and RATC took the stage for the 11/1 Letterman Show. They did "everybody knows" for TV, but then stuck around for some extras on the webcast: "how do you keep love alive" and "pearls on a string." And what a treat it is! Love that they take over Dave's desk and the couch...guess the chick on uke is one Nellie McKay http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nellie_McKay

edit: guess i'm lagging on the news, stereogum covered this the next day! http://www.stereogum.com/archives/video/ryan-adams-the-cardinals-feat-nellie-mckay-play-da.html
