So I finally gave Under the Blacklight a listen. Man, I really don't like it. I'm finding it really cheesy. I haven't listened to their other stuff, but I've read that this album is a bit of a departure. Are any of you Rilo Kiley fans? What do you think?
The only song that I doesn't completely make me want to hunt down Jenny Lewis and give her a stern talking to is "The Angels Hung Around," which, if produced differently, could be an outtake from "Rabbit Fur Coat." Which brings me to my next point. I really didn't get into that album when I first got it. But now, for some reason I can't quite pinpoint, I am obsessed with it. So if you haven't listened to it much, give it another shot. It's great. Maybe this will happen with "Blacklight" some day. Maybe. Anyway, here's a video for "Rise Up With Fists!" that you probably saw long ago. I admit, I was a little slow on the uptake with this one. It happens to us all, now and then. And in closing, Jenny Lewis has great hair, huh?

I'm in the same boat. I'm pretty lukewarm with the new RK album, although I can't say I was ever a super-fan, only really appreciating a couple tracks off of their previous 3 albums. The Jenny Lewis/Watson Twin album is, in my opinion, the best thing Jenny Lewis ever did, other than her hair...
It really is fantastic hair.
I'm a RK fan ... I really dug "more adventurous" and "the execution of all things." i saw them live a few years ago, and it was a great show. UTB is a departure. I personally like it, but I can see why it's not everyone's cup o tea, & I don't find it as satric and biting ... it's also their first album on Warner Bros, and some ppl say it's a sell out/too commercial. i think they are just trying to sex it up a bit. i do like "15" quite a bit ... and if it wasn't so porno, i do agree it could be off the next JL album. i also agree: Jenny Lewis solo is the best. I'd see her live again in a heartbeat ... I also ask you to give those Watson Twins ("southern manners") a twirl. They have more talent than just resembling the twins from "the shining" ...
sadcat is really starting to bum me out! :(
